Life is not contained
Therefore, the dust of the dead inside a vase
is then blown out
Life is returned to the ashes.
Here, what is contained is sound
And it leaks out
With its microphonies, and displacements in the air
Sound is leaking
Its life, its form is not contained
it disperses, amplifies itself
Sound as living matter
Throughout human history, the vase has been associated with the world of the dead. Even today, it is used as a deposit for ashes (from when a body is cremated). According to voodoo tradition, the vase contains the soul inside.
This work consists of using different shapes of vases, especially transparent ones, and amplifying their voids. By amplifying these voids, the sound begins to leak out and reaches a point of no return. By trying to adjust the microphone gain to maintain a sound, I’m trying to balance the audio feedback at its tipping point and prevent it from continuously increasing in volume. The sound-filled voids then begin to talk to each other and take on a life of their own, partly under control.
VASA is both a live performance and a sculptural installation, since the containers are manipulated simultaneously with the act and find new spatial interactions with each other. The number of containers varies and will behave differently in terms of resonance depending on the performance space. The performance lasts around 45 minutes.

Ao longo da história humana, o vaso tem sido associado ao mundo dos mortos. Ainda hoje, ele é usado como depósito de cinzas (de quando um corpo é cremado). De acordo com a tradição vodu, o vaso contém a alma em seu interior.
Esse trabalho consiste no uso de diferentes formatos de vasos, especialmente os transparentes, e na ampliação de seus vazios. Ao amplificar esses vazios, o som começa a vazar e chega a um ponto de não retorno. Ao tentar ajustar o ganho do microfone para manter um som, estou tentando equilibrar o feedback do áudio em seu ponto de inflexão e evitar que ele aumente continuamente de volume. Os vazios cheios de som começam então a conversar entre si e assumem vida própria, parcialmente sob controle.
VASA é uma performance ao vivo e uma instalação escultural, pois os vasos/recipientes são manipulados simultaneamente ao ato e encontram novas interações espaciais entre si. O número de vasos varia e se comportará de forma diferente em termos de ressonância, dependendo do espaço da apresentação. A apresentação dura cerca de 45 minutos.
